Your Studio and You

I swear I don't want this thing to become a dumping ground for stuff I find online, but these are pretty funny. Apparently Matt Stone and Trey Parker were asked to put together an internal corporate video for Universal Studios, and someone was able to snatch it up and throw it on YouTube. Watch for some great cameos by Spielberg, James Cameron, Katzenberg (sp?), and more.

Looks like Weezer is back together:

Weezer is just polishing up a batch of songs for a recording session that is going to start at the beginning of July. This will be the final recording session for our 6th album which we aim to put out in the first half of 2008. We hope you are all having good times.

Love,

R-dawg

Aww, he signed it R-dawg. Anyway, this is nothing but good news.

minus the bear

I can not stop listening to the new Minus the Bear album, Planet of Ice. The disc isn't being released until Aug 21, but I've been lucky enough to procure an advance copy (read: I have the internet) and I am definitely planning on purchasing it when available. Stereogum has a track for download, and while it's not my favorite song from the album, it's still great. The songs remind me quite a bit of two other medium-intensity rock bands that I am very fond of, Karate and Braid. I-like-it-a-lot.

who needs that extra dimension, anyway

The project deadline is hastily approaching, and things just aren't going well with my 3D concepts for the DB album cover; I can't quite seem to nail down the look we both want. So, for now at least, we're going back to the good old 2D logo - here are some ideas I'm kicking around for the cover.

And here were some more failed attempts at making chrome in Lightwave. (these are very lo-res renders)

(I kind of liked this one... nobody else did...)

i haven't touched lightwave in about 7 years so it's going pretty slow; i still don't have the model looking right, but it's getting there

A List Apart: Frameworks for Designers

"These days, “framework” is quite a buzzword in web development. With JavaScript frameworks like the Yahoo User Interface library, jQuery, and Prototype getting a lot of attention and web application frameworks like Rails and Django getting even more, it seems like everyone is using some kind of framework to build their sites. But what exactly is a framework? And are they only useful to programmers, or can we web designers benefit from the concept, as well?"
